review 1: I was going to write a long review about how boring this book was but what's the point just don't read it unless you like boring main characters, predictable endings and awkward instalove triangles. The main character basically ran off because she wanted to meet an attractive guy and dragged her simpleton friend along with her. This is a romance book, not a fantasy book. Just because you add a few fantasy elements into a story doesn't make it a fantasy!
review 2: Hate not finishing books, but I really could not finish this one and it's difficult for me to know exactly what made me not finish it. The plot is fairly predictable but these days many books are very predictable. The characters are a little formulaic, but the same could be said for a lot of others.
... more So, I think what killed this book for me is that I'm reading it and can't figure out who is the prince and who is the assassin. Sorry, but that was a dealbreaker for me. I like to know who my characters are. It's one thing to make a character appear good, then turn them into an enemy. Or to have birth secrets or what not. But the fact that I don't know who is who? Mad that I wasted one of my free Audible trials on this book. less

Pleasantly surprised and intrigued by the story and the narratives. Looking forward to more.
