review 1: Mary Kay Andrews is one of my favorite authors! Her characters are funny, imperfect, and just good people! I'd really give this story a 4.5 rating, if there were half-stars! This is the 3rd story about Weezy Foley and her friend BeBe. (You don't need to know other two stories, which, BTW, are very good as well, in order to enjoy this one) Weezy is getting married to her love Daniel Stepanic, who, as chef extraordinaire, is a guest chef in NYC. When Weezy sees a picture of the restaurant owner, a sultry Italian goddess named Carlotta, plastered onto Daniel in the society page, she takes a surprise trip to NYC. While there, she and Daniel must make a life changing decision.Meanwhile, back in Savannah, BeBe is about to deliver her first child. She learns some disturbin... moreg, life altering news, and she realizes she really needs to get it resolved before she even thinks about marrying Harry. And, as we watch these great friends take care of their lives, we see lives changing as well, especially with BeBe resolving her past, the aging of Marian and Joe, and the lives of BeBe's grandparents. Yet, these changes prove to be an integral part of the story and how these two women face their lives.
review 2: I was so looking forward to reading more about Weezie and her friends. I just wish there was more. Weezie and her friends are getting ready for Christmas and Weezie's wedding, when Weezie's fiancee is given the oportunity to be a guest chief in New York. He takes the job and Weezie is left at home along and missing Daniel terribly. So she heads off to New York, one week before the wedding, to surprise him and gets into all sort of situations that I think any reasonable person could have avoided. In the meantime, her friend BeBe is getting ready for the birth of her first child. And don't forget there is all the final details for Weezie's wedding that need to be finished.
