review 1: I should have known this book would fail when I saw the blurb on the cover, attributed to James Patterson, comparing it favorably to The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. What a load of crap. The main character is supposed to deliver a letter to a man that was written by her grandmother. She and granny were sooooooo close. Bullcrap. If they were so tight, how could it be that Grandma was engaged to this guy and that she was a fantastic painter that won a scholarship to art school, AND NOBODY IN THE FAMILY KNEW?!?!
review 2: High powered lawyer visits the small town her grandmother grew up in to fulfill her grandmother's last request by delivering a letter. She starts her visit by plunging into a freezing cold lake when she goes out onto a rotten deck
... more to take a photograph and has to be rescued. Overall kind of predictable, but some nice twists and turns, and a bunch of interesting characters. Not great literature by any means, but an enjoyable read. less
