review 1: I like the concept of money and contracts being payed with bit of soul. That and the marriage of Financiers, magic and God/dess' of each nations pantheon. The underlying message is real world in that greed and necessity is devouring the world after the Gods War when many of the world's Gods died. It shows that even with the power of the gods, sentient beings are too small minded to look towards the future and the consequences of their actions.
review 2: the books in gladstone's "craft sequence" are all part of the same universe but can stand alone. "full fathom five" takes place on the island of kavekana, and is told mainly from the point of views of two characters (island priestess kai and young street thief izza). the book was entertaining but predictable, an
... mored fell between books #1 and #2 in terms of quality. not sure if i would re-read. 3 stars. less
