review 1: Expertly written, fully thought out plot. Only thing is….At times I didn't really feel that much sexual tension between the two characters. That's just me. Atleast she did take the time to make these two fall in love. I love when I get a read like that. I can't stand when an author makes the characters just jump each other's bone in chapter 2 hello. The build up is just as good as the reward. Aside from that I really liked the book and thought it was a good addition to my collection. Part 2 better make cry some tears because after all this. I think I need a tear jerker. I felt a small fissure of something towards the end but nothing to get all bent out of shape about.

... mores dealing with the suicide of the love of her life Tom, four months prior. Trained as a chef, she followed Tom from New York to Vegas as he pursued a career as a professional card player. Once he started getting in deep, owing money to some unsavory people, he chose the easy way out, choosing suicide over asking for help, or letting Grace know he was in trouble. Grace turns to the bottle to drown her sorrows and quickly falls victim to the lure of alcohol. One night she is thrown out of a local dive and she meets a bouncer who takes an interest in her. He sees himself in her, or at least how he used to be, drinking her problems away instead of confronting them. It isn’t until Grace loses her job and is weeks away from eviction, before she realizes she needs to make some changes.Logan is a bouncer at Charlie’s. To say that he’s intense would be an understatement. As a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, he is carrying some major scars, both physically and mentally. He feels guilty for the loss of lives, both civilian and his brothers in arms. He also turns to alcohol when the ghosts of the past become too much. When he has to escort a drunken Grace out of the bar one night he sees a broken woman. So when he makes her acquaintance just days later, he knows that he was meant to be a part of her life, in some way.Grace gets a job at the dive she was thrown out of, unbeknownst to her (she was too tanked to even remember having been there), as a favor from a friend of a friend. When she makes Logan’s acquaintance she is intrigued by him, yet also slightly leery of getting involved with him, in any way shape or form. His intensity, size, and gruffness are alluring, yet also intimidating. Once Grace finds out that Charlie’s is not only a bar but also the venue for a UFC type of fighting ring and Logan is the star fighter, the dynamic between the two changes, as well as Grace’s outlook. Logan convinces Grace to turn to training and physical activity to help deal with the cravings for alcohol, to turn her attention to more healthy pursuits, much like he did. They quickly find themselves falling in love, with an undeniable chemistry, but everything changes in the blink of an eye when tragedy strikes. Grace is clinging to life, which has triggered a meltdown in Logan. He essentially abandons her and can no longer deal with the possibility of losing Grace so he goes back to the bottle. Is their love strong enough to battle their demons? Or will they both fall back into their past behaviors and end up alone and broken?Grace For Drowning is a quick, enjoyable read. It is well written and easily kept my interest throughout, however with the abundance of fighter romances out there right now, it didn’t necessarily stand out from the pack (other than being a standalone, instead of merely a setup for another multi-volume franchise). I give it a solid four stars; the characters were well developed and the storyline flowed easily. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Cross and certainly won’t be my last. less

Wow! For a strong man physically he's weak to fight for the woman he loves emotionally.
