review 1: I had originally planned 5 out of 5. It had the lucky streak for me until the last two chapters. I was psyched, it had a fantastic mystery flow, the characters were annoying but the main plot blocked that out for me, and I enjoyed learning more with each chapter. Through the book I had at least 2 or 3 questions recycling in my mind, and that's what I expect with mystery novels, I want questions that I need those burning answers to. By the time I got to chapter 21 or something, I had it set in my mind that I was gonna find out who the killer is, I didn't want any supernatural bullshit that the author hinted throughout the entire thing. And fortunately it didn't, I wanted a flesh and blood killer. Unfortunately how I got that is unsatisfactory. I have read a decent amount of... more mystery novels, mystery is my favorite genre to read. Once I discovered that the fucking bio teacher got extremely high on some shit home made drugs and passed out by the pond, then revealing Cally's sister drowned? Jesus....what a cop out. I don't care if she was unstable mentally, it's a cheap ending. I give it 4 stars because I enjoyed the general mystery feel to it, the author did get off course sometimes but other than that, the finish is my only real complaint. Add me as a friend, follow my reviews....I'm out.
review 2: Any book that hooks me from the first page and compels me to read it nonstop until I finish it is an automatic five star rating in my opinion. I never heard of this book before, but it caught my eye with it's gorgeous cover and the story looked interesting so I bought it for my Nook. As soon as I began this book I couldn't put it down! I can never resist a creepy boarding school story! I found it to be pretty well written, and Cally, the main character, was easy to empathize with. If you're looking for a great creepy story on a rainy night this is the book for you! less
