review 1: I couldn't finish this book. I read about 100 pages, and then I gave up. I really enjoyed the Evan Delaney series, so I had read the Jo Beckett series, hoping that they would be as good. They weren't, but they were still good enough to be entertaining. This book, however, was not entertaining. It felt like the author was trying to drum up interest by including Evan Delaney even though this was supposed to be a Beckett novel. Then, the author mentioned in one way or another that the characters needed to hurry because it was becoming dark outside. She did this at least ten times in 100 pages. Also, I figured out the ending which was very disappointing because usually the author does a great job of creating plot twists.

... moreich girl gets a reality-adventure from her dad. He's hoping she learns something and she certainly does. I've read all of Ms. Gardiner's books and she writes well-crafted suspense but this one fell short for me. The growth of rich kid Autumn does not develop credibly, with the ending a little too pat. Jo Beckett and Evan Delaney are both in this one, which I enjoyed, but the sections focusing on them skimmed their surfaces. Nevertheless, even though this didn't have the intensity and character development I expect from the author, I did enjoy it and would recommend it. less

Op zich een makkelijk te lezen boek. Soms vond ik de toevalligheden erg ver gezocht.
