review 1: I enjoyed this book, bits were a little contrived/formulaic, but I still enjoyed it and will read the next. I had guessed who the "baddy" was going to be reasonably early on, but that didn't detract from the enjoyment. Thought ending was a little abrupt, but hopefully we'll hear a little more about these characters in subsequent books?Suspect many readers would find similar, but if this doesn't trouble you, it doesn't me too much, I would recommend this book.
review 2: I noticed after finishing this book all the awards and glowing GR reviews, but it just wasn't my cup of tea....Think it was a Kindle Daily Deal, and since I'm into 'whodunit' series, thought I would give it a try.It wasn't a bad read and moved right along - for the most part the characters were f
... moreine, the story line a bit out of whack, but....I just couldn't buy into the fact our two leads were so tentative, self doubting and wishy washy I just couldn't ride along with them...It was odd that the details of some of the violence were graphic enough to make the reader uncomfortable, but then the one sex scene dealt with her 'center of heat' was more in line with early teen readers.Perhaps just too much 'romance' over suspense for my taste, but think this would fit fine on a YA shelf.I probably not going to read the next in the series.... less
