review 1: This is really a 1.5 star book for me. It took a lot of effort to keep reading it. I didn't care much for the characters. I was glad the story was over - until I saw another one is coming out? this time with a horse? That's a surprise - didn't think it could keep going. Unless I'm really desperate I won't be reading it. I remember liking the first one - I even own it. But I think they've just gone down hill from there.
review 2: I ended up just skimming the last half of this book. The basis of the story was the evils of man becoming disconnected from the land. As a shape shifter, raised by her mother, the hound, and her father, the bear, Liva doesn't really know in which world she belongs. All she knows is that she has a lot of animal magic and that humans are ... moredoing all they can to destroy her magic. When she meets Jens, she is confused, because he doesn't have any magic - neither animal or human. And so they begin their quest to save animal magic. less
