review 1: The Batboy is about a young kids dream to be a batboy for the Detroit Tigers, and step out of his dads shadow of a former professional professional pitcher. When he finds out his hero Hank Bishop is coming back to the Tigers after being suspended for steroid use, he is very happy and excited to see him in person. When he finally says hi, he finds out who Hank really is. A grumpy guy who doesn't seem like he enjoys baseball as much as he used to. Brian is a bit taken back by that. Brian is also playing in his own baseball league so he had to make a schedule that worked for both so he didn't miss too many of his own and didn't miss many of the tigers games. After one of the games, Hank meats brians mom, who he found really nice and she had him over for dinner. Im not going t... moreo give away the ending so if you want to find out what happens, you will have to read the book on your own.
review 2: The Batboy by far is my favorite baseball book i have ever read. Background info: The Batboy is about a 14 year old boy named Brian that had a dream that becomes a reality! That dream was to become the batboy for his hometown Major League Baseball Team. This boy Brian and his father loved the game of baseball. They loved every team and every player so not only does this job help him be more experienced with the game, but he us also get to be around his favorite players and coaches. This Major League Team had the wins of any team in the MLB at this point in time. The star player of the team was Hank Bishop who was suspended for a year for the use of steroids and other illegal drugs.Later in the story he starts his comeback and as he is starting his comeback Brian is still spending more and more time with this team. Brian also starts building great relationships with all these players. My opinion: My opinion of this great inspirational book is that it is really well written to the point that grades 7th-10th. I think that this book kind of relates to me because when the Richmond Braves came to Virginia I applied to be the bat boy for them. Later that year I got the job and built really good relationships with the players and coaches. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 READ IT!! less
