review 1: Target Audience: K-3Summary: Amanda and her alligator is about Alligator and his attempts to keep himself from being bored. He tries to scare, surprise, and play with Amanda, but it doesn't always work. Amanda is always reading a book while Alligator is bored and his failed attempts only make him more bored. He puts on his thinking cap and comes up with brilliant tactics to scare Amanda. Once Amanda goes to the zoo with her grandpa, she comes back with a new toy and Alligator is unsure how he feels about it. Activity: Teacher will ask students to draw the new toy that Amanda is bringing home from the zoo and predict if Alligator will like it or not. Students can share their pictures with the rest of the class. Willems, M. (2011). Hooray for Amanda & her alligator! Ne... morew York: Balzer Bray.
review 2: This book uses a table of contents, which is a rest way to introduce this to children. It is compiled like a a book of many short stories and could be used with core academic standards. It also provides many tips and hints on what friends do and how to be a good friend. There are very limited words on each page, so this is a very easy book to read. It is long for a picture book, but the words and picture make it easier to read. The pictures are childlike as if drawn by a child, but this adds to the book. Since the concept is very relevant to kids and the images just add to this. The end pages are very fun and get the reader excited about the book, as it shows Amanda and the alligator dancing. The cover is not as exciting though. less

Very cute book that reminded me a bit of the Dragon books by Dav Pilkey (which I liked better).
