review 1: A very good read. Jenny Cooper gets a new job as a Coroner following the death of her predecessor. Jenny has come through a bad divorce and barely keeping her life afloat with the support of her drug habit, she investigates the death of a boy in custody and a girl recently released from the same unit. There is much written of her addiction, panic attacks and alcohol use but still a good story there. I think this could be the start of a series and I would definitely read more.

... moresn't a lot of action as most of the suspense happened in the 'court rooms', but it detained my attention and Jenny Cooper fascinated me. She's one of the few characters who made me feel frustrated for her and not at her. The imperfect ending only made The Coroner feel more real and also made me look forward to the next book because there were unresolved issues . I didn't read the teaser for the next book after the epilogue, but I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. That said, I feel that there is a lack of foreshadowing. The criminal in the end is someone who isn't even mentioned until the end. less
