review 1: I have had this sitting on my to-read shelf for a while, as the last couple left me not wanting to rush to read this one. It is a good read, but again, my complaint is the predictability of the format, the characters seem to live in Groundhog Day, and the conspiracies are just too over the top. If the Pathologist has found something he is unhappy with, his is told keep it quite or you will be fired? Really? Not just the Pathologist either, it seems the British Government and all associated parties to cover-ups on a daily basis. The one good thing is Jenny's panic attacks and anxiety is under control at last, so we don't have to contend with that, although, we do still have to put up with her "bad mother" guilt tripping and her still not being able to stand up to her ex-hus... moreband or her Officer, Alison. (That woman would have been out the door a long time ago, if it were my choice). This is probably more to do with my reading taste than anything else. But, I started this series, and was determined to finish. I also know, he the author writes another, I will probably read it, but they are not my favourites.
review 2: Particularly enjoying this author, The Flight was scary believable stuff and The Chosen Dead is another book that has themes I suspect are in progress as we speak. Coroner Jenny Cooper, is asked to look at the case of a friends child who has died from meningitis. She soon uncovers what looks like a hospital cover up, while investigating this, another death links to the unlikely suicide of an African aid worker. less

Good tense thriller, although a little far-fetched at times (but hey, it's a novel!).

Like the series of books and finally starting to get to like Jenny Cooper.

Scary fictional look into what the future could hold. Gripping as ever.

Good read, a page turner but one that I could put down.
