The Escape by C.L. Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
First off I must undoubtly apologies to Cally, as during reading this book I doubted her writing at several points during this story.
This story isn’t about a woman who had a shit husband who doesn’t support her, this is about one woman’s struggle with a mental health problem.
I could totally relate to Jo in this story as I sat willing her on, and panicking when things started to go wrong. Like Cally’s previous books such as The Accident
This book like J M Hewitt’s “The Hunger Within” is also steeped in Irish history; those of us that don’t know about Ireland in the past are drip fed information as the story moves along.
As of all of the other C J Taylor books, this book will probably be in my favorites.
Cally has recently written a YA book and I look forward to reading it and seeing how her story telling skills transfer into this genre.
A recommended read for certain, and though I thought I was going to cry at the end, luckily no slobbering snotty mess on the way to work this morning.
