The Wardstone Trilogy
review 1: It was a setup from the start. I saw a trilogy on amazon for 9 dollars. A trilogy mind you! 3 distinct books all with amazing reviews, that I didn't feel the need to go over do to the high average reader rating. I thought that I was set. but what I found was a string of terrible plot points, bad grammar and characters so shitty that they put Mr. Hanky too shame. Let me give you an example, this whole book there playing up this dude, the red wolf or some shit. There all like, the red wolf amazing fighter strategist and war lord. King by his own right the fiercest motherfucker on the planet and then u get to this guy and hes a goddamn retard with like a thousand troops to his name and no mind for war whatsoever. Every single one of the characters has the depth of a shallow g... morerave, and the reasoning of the corpse in said shallow grave. Simply put this was one of the worst books that I've ever read. After re-reviewing all of the amazon reviews I noticed that none of them had any detail whatsoever. Every single five star review was vague. "I love this series" "I hope to see more of this series." Never any mention of any of the actual characters and plot points. The only plausible explanation that I can think of is that Mathias created several amazon accounts and methodically wrote all of his positive reviews one by one in order to trick potential readers. Unfortunatley being a terrible writer he was unable to make any of them look remotely believable. Don't buy this book.
review 2: I did enjoy the story. I had everything that you would expect in a fantasy story. Dragons, elves, witches, wizards, and other magical creatures. I struggled really getting into the story. It just wasn't new and exciting. Felt like almost every other fantasy story I have read. The author constantly switches the story telling from one character to another. I found they way he did it very confusing and sometimes had to go back and reread a few chapters to figure out what character's story was all the sudden being told. I think any lover of fantasy stories will enjoy this book. Just be prepared for no warning change of perspective mid chapter a lot. less

Its a great book. But the ending is a little shaky. It does not tie up the loose ends.

Great start to the trilogy. Had to get the second book as soon as I finished it.
