review 1: A young Australian, Jack MacBride arrives late at the funeral for Hector Huggins, lately of Ivy Cottage in Finch. No one in Finch knew a lot about Hector, because he was very reclusive. It turns out that Jack is Hector's nephew, who had last been in England and seen his uncle when he was six years old. Lori and Brea offer to help Jack clean out the garden, and soon a well is discovered under the growth with a stone which says "speak and Your wish will be granted". Lori happens to say she wishes the weather would improve, and the rain stops the next day. Soon the rumor mill has the whole town anxious to make their wishes. Mr. Barlow has the Jaguar to work on that he wished for; Miranda comes for the "healing water"; Emma Harris gets someone to help out with her busine... moress; etc. However, some of the wishes bring bad things to Finch and Aunt Dimity sends Lori to find out who is really granting the wishes.
review 2: It's always so much fun to read an Aunt Dimity book, being able to relax and enjoy the story knowing nothing truly bad is going to happen. A handsome young Aussie comes to the village to settle his uncle's affairs, and a wishing well is discovered amidst the jungle of a yard behind his uncle's house. Villagers come to make a wish, and suddenly their wishes are coming true! But they forget the old caution to be careful what you wish for, and things soon become chaotic in the little village of Finch. Needless to say, Lori and her friendly spirit, Aunt Dimity, take an active role in making things right again. I love these books! less
