review 1: On an excursion with the twins to a creepy museum, Lori Shepherd meets an unusual young girl named Daisy who is fascinated with an old silver salt cellar. Lori can't forget the girl and then the next day Daisy's coat shows up in a charity shop with the museum's silver salt cellar zipped into the pocket. Hoping that she convince the child to make it right, Lori tries to track her down, but learns Daisy and her mother have vanished without a word to anyone. Then Lori meet Corabelle, Daisy's best friend, who tells her about the story Daisy shared with her about the Russian prince being held captive in a dungeon whose prized possessions, including the silver salt cellar, were being stolen from him. Lori decides that she needs to find and rescue this Russian prince with the hel... morep of her young neighbor, Bree, and of course, Aunt Dimity. This was a light and entertaining story in keeping with the rest of this series. Very fun.My one complaint is a minor one. Lori made Russian Tea Cakes a major clue in the book. Certain that the prevalence of Russian Tea Cakes in the neighborhood indicated the presence of the missing Russian man. However, Russian Tea Cakes are a very common cookie in Britain and other non-Russian locations. I own 5 Tea Party Cookbooks and all of them have recipes for Russian Tea Cakes. Russian Tea Cakes are not obscure and certainly not a clue. Otherwise, I enjoyed the tours of all of the houses and meeting the new characters.
review 2: This is the perfect detective series to discover during the winter. A fun mystery, which is more of a puzzle, the narrator is a smart, witty American named Lori Shepherd who has married a British husband. There is a paranormal element to the mysteries, because Lori "talks" with her deceased Aunt Dimity via a book in which ink magically appears in answer to Loris questions. This book in the series was lots of fun, as Lori tries to find out who the mysterious prince is, and see if he still needs her help. less
