review 1: What an unpleasant book. After a harrowing account of the abject miseries of two parents whose teenage son was abducted, we learn that the kidnapper is a sadistic pedophile who is using the boy as a sex slave. I enjoy a good suspenseful thriller but this one was just over-the-top cruel and sordid. Moreover the “heroine” seemed incapable of having a single thought that wasn't turned into a glib and flippant aside. For example, just seconds before she thought she was gonna get whacked : “Nothing Stoat could do to me would ever make me cry ? Riiight. Did Stoat get credit if fabric softener made me quake with tears?” Thoughts of the money I paid for this book makes me quake with tears.

... mored Giveaway! Thank You! Drawn Into Darkness is really suspenseful and very well written. However, I thought the protagonist was out of her mind to knock on a neighbor's door, that she had never met, walk through the door, and make herself at home with two strangers involved in a kidnapping. What was she thinking? More than the intense violence in this book, I had a bigger problem with the snakes and alligators! The action and suspense transformed this book into a heart-rattling, page turner that I just could not put down. I am so glad that the power and faith of a mother's love led more than one son to return back home in this story. Nicely Done! less

Would have given it four stars if there wasn't that much of foul language.

Way too much quoting of philosophers for my taste. Otherwise a good read.

Would have been a 4, but there's an awful lot of animal killing.
