Enola Holmes Mysteries
review 1: The conclusion to this series broke my heart in all the best ways. I can't think of a better or more fitting ending, though I really do wish this series could continue. (I strongly echo Sherlock's last sentiment.) However, if this series has to end, what a perfect way to go! This is the sixth and last of this series about Enola Holmes, the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, and throughout this series I have thoroughly enjoyed the depth of characters, the sense of place and history, and the juxtaposition of adventure and problem-solving. A definite added bonus for this series is the excellent narration on audio by award-winning Katherine Kellgren; she is absolutely addictive. To me, this audio series is up there with Jim Dale's Harry Potter readings, and that's ... morethe highest praise I can give. Thank you Nancy Springer, and thank you Katherine Kellgren. Safe travels, Enola, and I hope to meet you again!
review 2: What I most liked about this book was the seamless integration of this character, Enola Holmes, into the established literary lives of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. Enola, Sherlock's little sister, armed with a quick wit and an array of disguises, has been living an independent life right under her brothers' noses after running away to escape being married. Enola embodies intelligence, grit and perseverance. The message of empowerment for young women is clearly evident in the novel as is the author's love of the traditional Holmes mysteries. Believe me, this author knows her stuff! I read this with my twelve-year-old daughter and, although she found the vocabulary extremely challenging, I thought it was spot on for Victorian fiction. The worst part about this book? I didn't notice it was the last book in the series until I had already started it. So much for paying attention! less

I'm dad as I think the series is over. Unless she has adventures with her brother.
