review 1: This is an abstract story about a little girl who wants to meet the moon and asks her friends to help her do that. At the end, she does meet the moon because she has made it dark and quiet enough for the moon to show up. After that, she knows that the moon is always there for her. It seems like a subtle discussion of religion. The characters are cute and likable and the pictures are fabulous. Not good for read aloud, but good for a small setting.
review 2: Another book that doesn't need the text. This time the text doesn't get in the way of the story of the pictures, but it doesn't add anything to it. The storyline of trying to communicate with the moon is slight (Asch's Moonbear and Kitten's First Full Moon do it better.)and the characters of the squirrel
... more et al. seem designed to give us more cute characters without adding much to the story. Still, the pictures are fun to follow and see how the desire to communicate with the moon will be resolved. less

Enjoyed the artwork. The artist paints on wood and you can see the grain through the paint.
