review 1: Minty Mortimer spends summer in her neighborhood, which sounds boring; and yet it's nothing but interesting because of the Secret Tree, which has a hollow trunk that holds the secrets of everyone in the neighborhood. Minty slowly discovers secrets in the tree and shares them with Raymond, her new friend that she spends time with spying on their neighbors. So many people hate on one another, and it's up to Minty and Raymond to stop the hatred and figure out the secret holders' identities and fix the problems so that the secrets are no longer true and don't exist. I didn't really think it'd be such a good book when I first picked it up. I saw "secret" and I was attracted because well, I love knowing secrets, be it fiction or reality. As I read through it I began to enjoy thi... mores book more, and couldn't bring myself to stop reading. There were some parts of it where it was almost completely unexpected. I never did think that I'd end up liking "The Secret Tree" as much as I do. In fact, I wish I had the option to rate it 4.5 stars. I would rate it 5 stars if only what I wanted to happen did.Come on, I would totally take Raymond's actions towards Minty in a romantic way! Watching her through the binoculars to the point she was somewhat uncomfortable, simply spending summer together, making lunch for the two of them, and giving the harmonica to her is so sweet, I found myself fangirling. WHY COULDN'T THEY END UP TOGETHER!?! Not as neighbors, not as friends, but as a couple! Sure, maybe it happens out of readers' sight, or maybe even further character development is needed b-but still! It makes me slightly frustrated. At the end, maybe there could be two secrets for Raymond in the Secrets Book, and the secret could've been "I like Minty Mortimer." That'd be a pretty nice confession considering that they were alone and reading all of the secrets they'd discovered and solved... Oh gosh, I'm ranting- too many spoilers, but I can't help myself~! I would recommend this to someone who likes reading about mild mysteries, secrets and broken-then-fix friendships. Now if only I actually knew someone like that... I came for the secrets!! ANYONE WHO'S READING: just read this book, I myself was surprised that I ended up liking "The Secret Tree." You just might as well~ ...Yes I'm trying to recommend it to whoever's around here.I mean, why else are you on this page reading reviews- unless you're a stalker which is an exception... *nods nods*
review 2: I in particular loved this book. One reason is because some of it felt exactly like my life. Another reason I was in love with this book it has two main morals. Number one is no matter where you are or how you act in life you'll always have friends. Number two is that it going to be difficult grooming up but you have to deal with it and keep moving through change So this is a wonderful book and has great description so I think you should keep moving through change and read this book. less

They all have their own secrets.... That's why it's interesting, they all have different lives.

this was a fun story and well written just too young for me or, at least, my mood right now.
