Old Bear and Little Cub

review 1: Old Bear and Little Cub love each other. They always try to take care of each other, even though they argue sometimes. Old Bear tries to keep Little Cub safe during a winter hike. Little Cub tries to help Old Bear get well during a cold. The features a repetitive exchange between the two characters that children can anticipate. The book runs a little long. Also, it doesn't make sense for the bears to be out in the woods during a winter snow storm, instead of hibernating.
review 2: Adorable, like all of Dunrea's books for children. Old Bear spends the day gently correcting Cub's idea of how things will go, emphasizing that some things he doesn't want to do are good for him. But when Old Bear gets sick, the tables are turned as Cub insists that Old Bear get som... moree rest and take care of himself. A great reminder that children are always watching and that sometimes the best teaching moments are when we are also learning.Lovely illustrations and a quiet story of family love, this is a perfect book for reading together, whether someone is feeling under the weather or not!(side note: the relationship between Old Bear and Cub isn't well defined. They could be brothers, father and son, grandfather and grandson, etc. I think this adds to the universal "families care for each other" message of the book.) less
