review 1: Creepy and depressing. If you want to read something that leaves you somewhat nauseated and simultaneously makes you despair of any hope for humanity, this is it. I finished it, hoping to find something redeeming at the end, but no. This dystopia was just too bleak for me. I guess I like to see how the human spirit and faith and compassion can still survive in an ugly world and this vision was simply too pessimistic for me.

And the characters he has created are varied, deep, fascinating and you really care what will happen to them during the power struggle the book venters on. A great read. less
