review 1: Another fantastic installment in a really wonderful series! As usual, the Mercy Thompson books like to race from one dangerous, shocking and incredible moment to the next, and this plot certainly delivers! As the fifth book in a series, I am impressed the Patricia Briggs keeps the world as interesting as she does, but the characters are vivid, the problems are compelling, and history is woven in beautifully. I do think a critique I would have of this series is wondering just how many bad things can come flying at Mercy. In Silver Borne Mercy did get a chance to develop relationships in some beautiful ways. I love that there is real depth to the feelings Mercy and Adam have for one another, instead of overpowering lust that tends to characterize a lot of fantasy. I really e... morenjoyed this mystery, not quite as gory as some of the other books, which I appreciated. All in all, it was a great chance to get deeper into Mercy's world and a wonderful conclusion for many of our favorite characters in the book!
review 2: I did an audio book for this one and I was so bored with the characters, with the plot, and with the diolog. This time around Mercedes was just a plain jane nothing incrediable or funny about her. I never really like Mercedes falling for Adam because he comes across like an old man with a lack of fire between them. Sam was not that exciting in this book he was very depressing. I still feel there is more chemistry between Sam and mercedes than her and adam. I did miss the vampire stephan in this book. The drama with the fae and the wolf pack was just not interesting plot, I found myself wanting it over. less
