review 1: I was prepared to hate Adam's ex. I was prepared for the horror of having her inside Mercy's home. Thankfully I had such a horrible idea of what Mercy would ssuffer that the reality paled in comparison. That is what I think helped me finish the book without throwing it or closing it when Christy appeared. The book is great and I love the relationship between Adam and Mercy. Even if I missed Warren and Ben in it.
review 2: I had read some reviews before reading this book, so when I got to the ex-wife (in the early pages so no it isn't a spoiler) and realized she was just as sly and manipulative as what other readers had said she was, I put it aside. I didn't want to ruin my Mercy Thompson (and Alpha and Omega) voyage with this book. Yesterday afternoon I picked ... moreit up again and had to backtrack in the story to get into the swing. Somehow all the Christy stuff, while she is still a sly and manipulative piece of schka, didn't impact me like it did on first reading. There was so MUCH OTHER STUFF going on! And holy cow, yes, that other stuff is amazing and difficult to read and wonderful. New people are introduced into the story line AND something very very GOOD happens. Something that, when I read it -- Life is Good. No, I will not say what it was because that is spoilers :D but anyone who has read the book will know of what I write. less
