Sam Dryden
review 1: Sam Dryden, ex-Delta Force/Black Ops, is a civilian again after his wife and daughter died in an car accident. Having sleep issues, he goes for a 4 am run on the boardwalk and literally runs into a young girl fleeing from several men. He soon learns that she has been held captive in a secret compound by the government most of her life. Something about the girl makes him believe her and he soon helps hide and then escape her pursuers. But the pursuers use the full weight of all the government resources to track them down. The book is fast paced and has you guessing who is out thinking who as the story progresses. One noteworthy line from the book,"Bloom where you're planted."
review 2: Really grabbed my attention! I enjoyed the fact that the relationships in
... more this book weren't romantic. You see two people that are cold blooded killers who have a wonderful tender side too. Despite all the bad things going on, the relationship between Sam and Rachel is very endearing. That theme plays throughout the story. Rachel's gifts (hearing what people are thinking, etc) can be used for good or evil. She is a bit like a witch that you want to like because she is a cute little girl. The ending is a bit weak but you feel that some of the bad guys get what they deserved. less
