review 1: I lost track of this as a monthly, but it works better collected. A Hispanic divorced governor of New Mexico is planning to run for President, but she's got a big secret - she thinks she was abducted by aliens. The story does not play out as you would expect, and all of the characters are interesting and deep. Everyone seems to recognize just how close to the edge the story is, and plays it accordingly. There are lots of twists and turns and political maneuvering, and separate organizations with disparate goals, all of them gearing up. I'm looking forward to reading more of the series to see where all the threads go.
review 2: First collection of this shortlived title. Arcadia Alvarado is the Governor of Mexico, a candidate for President -- and she may, or
... more may not, have just had a close encounter of the third kind while meeting with her alcoholic ex-husband. Conspiracy theories, political dirty tricks, and weighing the cost and need to find the truth out there all mix together in a delightfully warped fashion. Really strong stuff, and a great example of Vertigo at its best, as well as how collections like this can work together better than individual issues. less
