review 1: I enjoyed this story of a great-grandfather telling his life story to his granddaughter through matchboxes. Each matchbox contains a trinket inside that is attached to a memory. When all the matchboxes have been opened, the granddaughter learns of her great-grandfathers struggles and successes coming from a poor Italian family to American at the turn of the century. This story reminded me of the tales of my poor Italian family immigrating to America and seeking a better life.
