review 1: I probably had entirely too high expectations of this book, since I loved the movie Courageous so much. This book was definitely good, but not quite as good as I had hoped. My favorite chapters were about embracing every season of our lives and being PRESENT, instead of just waiting for the next chapter; living with high standards of virtue and purity; loving our children; living with grace; and leaving a godly legacy. I'll admit that at some parts, I felt that the pages were burning my fingers - things were hitting home and weren't feeling good. I guess that's the point - to be convicted to change. Overall, this was an excellent book and I enjoyed Shirer's writing style.
review 2: I have really enjoyed Priscilla Shirer Bible Studies in the past and have he... moreard her speak. But, I'd never read a book that she'd written before. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I could almost hear her talking as I read the book. I felt like there were lots of little nuggets that were things I hadn't thought about in awhile or that had a bit different twist to it. It's good for me to reminded of things periodically that I tend to forget or push to the back burner. Great book to chew on! less
