…”Prince William & Kate expecting third child, palace says”…”Loonie’s strength complicates Bank of Canada’s interest rate decision”…
One might quip about unexpected expectant news that truly does sing salut to a fine ‘Labour’ Day!
Nice to know that “The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
Moving on to what should be today’s next topic, one’s mind moves to just where does the term ‘pregnant pause’ originate from?…..
Interestingly enough “the phrase dates back to 1450, and a pregnant pause (in the classical definition, “many possibilities”) is a technique of comic timing used to accentuate a comedy element, where the comic pauses at the end of a phrase to build up suspense.”
Decisions, decisions, decisions seem to be the order of the day with respect to another potential interest rate hike “as our Canadian economy continues with strong growth and has a lot of room to run with inflation and wages subdued.”
Wednesday, we’ll know where that’s going to go….
And a few fine Labour Day quotes:
Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop. ~Ovid
The only liberty an inferior man really cherishes is the liberty to quit work, stretch out in the sun, and scratch himself. ~H.L. Mencken
Labour not — for one day,
just sit, breathe, and rejoice
drinking what you please
and enjoying what you may.
~Terri Guillemets
If all the cars in North America were placed end to end, it would probably be Labor Day Weekend. ~adapt. Doug Larson
Without labour, nothing prospers. – Sophocles
Cheers to a wickedly wonderful Labour Day Monday that sings–arduous, backbreaking, strenuous, tiresome NOT!!!!!
