I couldn’t possibly chose just 5 of my favourite books! It just cannot be done!
Or can it?!
My preferred genre is horror, gothic fiction, fantasy, history and war sort of books; the grim ones! Im not a fan of coming of age books, romance, contemporary or young adult sort of books [though off i like some of it!], so most of the books will be on my preferred genres!
(Also, im not going to write a review because i am currently strapped for time, but i will link you to some or possibly write my own on a later post! Sorry!)
The Dumb House by John Burnside.
Hands down one of my favourite books in the entire world! It is morbid, cruel and impactful. F’in exquisite piece of work! If you cannot handle animal cruelty, human experimentation or overall just psychopathic nature involved then you would not enjoy this book! But if you do, i recommend you check out some reviews and get the book!
Isis by Douglas Clegg
Oh how i absolutely adore this book! Its a short 113 pages of supernatural and victorian goodness! It resembles a classical victorian horror tale, the atmosphere set by the wonderful Douglas Clegg just takes you into another world. The pen illustrations are also a good ol’ plus in my book! Reviews can be found here and you can get the book here for just $6!
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Im gonna cheat and say i would recommend almost any book of Neil Gaiman’s! He’s the Tim Burton of the book world! All of his work is unique, his writing is absolutely phenomenal and an overall impactful storyteller! Coraline is one of his short stories, creepy, harrowing and nightmare-like! Definitely a must read! Dont believe me? Read some reviews here and if you want to buy it, get it on TBD.
The Insignificance of You by Tammy Robinson
A difference in setting, this is a romance book. Im really fond of this book, it was a beautifully woven, simple yet absolutely rich, love story! Im not usually a reader of coming of age, love stories but this one id go as far as giving it a 4.5
