The Ocean At The End Of The Lane (Neil Gaiman) – Everyone needs a little magical realism on their bookshelves and Neil Gaiman is one of the undeniable greats of the genre.

Between The World And Me (Ta-Nehisi Coates) – A father’s letters to his son and lesson on what it’s like to be a black man in America. If you haven’t read Coates’ The Case For Reparations find the time to do so as soon as you can. This man doles out infinite wisdom.

Hiking From Portland To The Coast, An Interpretive Guide to 30 Trails (James D. Thayer) – If you are an outdoor enthusiast like myself, you’re probably always planning your next adventure. This guide outlines several hikes winding through Tillamook and the rest of the Oregon Coast.

Let’s Explore Diabetes With Owls (David Sedaris) – You may have noticed, but I’m really into essays, whether they are thought-provoking, humorous, challenging or a combination of all three of those things. And David Sedaris delivers stimulating narrative in a comedic gold wrapper.

Cloud Atlas (David Mitchell) – So I have to be honest…I’ve already watched the movie. Watching the movie before reading the book has always been a personal deadly sin of mine, but in my defense (and naïvety), I didn’t actually know this was a book until after I’d enjoyed the movie.

The Golem And The Jinni (Helene Wecker) – This novel combines both Jewish and Arab mythology against the backdrop of New York in 1899. I’ve had this book recommended to me by countless readers at this point and can’t wait to give it a go.

Dress Your Family In Corduroy And Denim (David Sedaris) – I know, I know, David Sedaris again! But I truly adore his keen wit and his way with words and I hope to accomplish reading his entire library sooner than later.
