Books To Read Before Back To School

If you live in the UK (like me!), you’ll have just under a month before going back to school. And, being the UK, the weather has not been great. So, I’ve got TWO (not one!) good reads to try out before you have to go back to school! Just so you know, these are books for 12 year olds and above.

The Loose Ends List – Carrie Firestone

The Loose Ends List by Carrie Firestone is about love and life. The story is through the eyes of Maddie, the main character. Maddie has been getting ready for summer before college, when her grandma drops a bombshell on the family. She has cancer and is taking the whole family on a cruise but by the end of it Gram won’t be coming back… Maddie has some loose ends to fill.
I loved this book! It had a good meaning to it and looked at love in so many different ways – family love, romantic love, obsessive love, friendship. It had me stuck on every word and was written very well. It also had a beautiful but simple cover.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Down The Rabbit Hole – Peter Abrahams

This story is actually the first book in a trilogy – The Echo Falls Mystery. The book follows the character Ingrid and her mission to find the murderer of Kate Kovac, while juggling school, theatre, football (well, soccer because this book is set in America) and boys (well, one boy). Ingrid must find the murderer without becoming a suspect herself, and, it isn’t as easy as she first thought…

This book was really good but it did get a bit confusing towards the end where it seemed a bit rushed. I would rate this book a 4/5.
