Audible Romance Package and Me

After a month of subscribing to Audible’s additional package, the Audible Romance Package, I was able to form my pros and cons for me to decide if I would continue subscribing to it or not.

PROS:

  • Discover other authors, books, and narrators – I’m forever grateful for this because I discovered Kristen Painter and the wonderful town of Nocturne Falls. Plus, B.J. Harrison is now one of my favorite narrators.
  • Unlimited access to books – Since this package lets you borrow 10 books at a time, you can remove a book you can’t get into and exchange it to another book at no extra cost.
  • Reread books – I was able to listen to the audio book versions of some of my favorite books on Kindle. Prior to this package, I had no desire to listen to the audio versions because for me, I’d rather listen to other books. However, since books under this package are “free”, I now have the opportunity to enjoy my Kindle books again. That said, I didn’t realize how many Lauren Blakely books I have! I’m thankful that she made almost all of her past books available in this package. For now, I haven’t reread her books yet, but I’m on my way to do that! I just downloaded two books I’ve previously read.
  • Nibbler badge – For those with only 30+ books, downloading the additional 10 books via this package would make it possible to get Nibbler badge just by listening to a couple of minutes to all the books in your library.
  • Reviews on Books – I sometimes review books after I listen to them, but I review all the books that I finished thru this package. If I don’t I won’t have a record in my account that I listened to it. Thus, if I leave a review for a book, my review stays on my account even if I remove it in my library.

CONS:

  • Neglect other books – I somehow neglected the books I got thru credit and others that I bought. Last week, I was able to take a break from my Audible Romance Package books and I read a book that I pre-ordered a couple of months ago.
  • Not permanent – Books under this package aren’t permanent since you’re technically, “borrowing” them. Even if you downloaded them, once you decide to unsubscribe from the package, these downloaded books would be gone as well.
  • Expensive – An additional $6.95 (Php 350) on top of the $14.95 (Php 755) is not at all practical, but I was gullible enough to try the trial period and found it rather a good additional package. It’s still expensive though.
  • Availability of books – Not all titles I like are part of the package, but then again, that’s also how you can discover other books and authors.

I bet that I would be able to add more items to my list of pros and cons, but for now, these are the only ones I could come up with.

Since I’m still enjoying the Romance Package, I continued subscribing to Audible’s Romance Package. I just have to remember that I still have other books to listen to besides the ones in this package – perhaps, once I finish with all the available Nocturne Falls books. I’m currently listening to Book 6, and I have Books 6.5 and 7 left!!!

I’m concluding this post with a list of the books that I had thru this Romance Package (because I’m obsessed in creating lists):
