Black HERstory month 2017 – Dr Wangari Maathai

Wangari Muta Maathai was an internationally renowed environmental political activist.

In 2004 she became the first African woman to win the Nobel Prize for her commitment to ensuring sustainable developments in africa and fight for womens rights and democracy.

What’s dope about her?
In the 70’s she started talking about environmental conservation as well as the importance of trees and women’s rights. She also pissed a bunch of people off when she disputed how HIV came to Africa
