Blog Tour: Stuck with You by Anna Premoli

Publication Date: November 1st 2017, Aria.

Book description

A smart, romantic comedy about how finding The One doesn’t always have to be love at first sight…

Lavinia Ferrari is in her fifth year at Bocconi University where she studies Economics when she is introduced to a new project that will guarantee her extra credits. She’s intrigued… but it means the class must team up with students from the Computer Engineering course. Lavinia has absolutely no interest in the project, and to top things off, she’s paired with Seb Marconi who is less than enthusiastic.

When the work begins, her friends seem to be making great progress with their partners, but Lavinia isn’t having the same luck… Seb is making it quite clear that he’s not interested in the project, or Lavinia, fuelling her frustration.

She has no choice – they’re stuck in this, and besides, she won’t receive her extra credits unless they work together. Lavinia must come up with a way to convince the guy who drives her crazy to put the work in… but how?

My Review:

Lavinia’s sister left home after an argument with their parents and her dad wants to choose “something worthwhile” to study at university, and she finds herself studying economics.

One thing she didn’t expect was being paired up on a class project with Seb Marconi. She has no interest in economics whatsoever, and prefers Apple products. She is a people pleaser and likes to be positive.

From the beginning, Seb, who’s an IT programmer and sci fi addict, seems very annoying. I like Lavinia’s friends Giada and Alessandra , though.

This is the first Anna Premoli book I have read, and thought it was an engaging story and well written despite the fact that it’s not in Anna’s native language.Very naturally   written and a good read. I understand first hand what it’s like to write in another language as I’m fluent in Spanish, and it’s often not easy to get contexts across, but this story is a great read.

There’s a lot of banter in the book, but the romance is pretty subtle and started too late in the book for me. I hope there’s a sequel because I want more romance between Lavinia and Seb!
Thanks to Anna Premoli and Aria for a copy of the book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My Chat With Anna Premoli

 1) Where did the idea for the plot come from?

I personally married a computer engineer, so I have a soft spot for “geeks”! And know how they “function” – I’ve had a lot of experience!

2) Who is your favourite character? Why?

I’m obviously very fond of Sebastiano, the main character, because he’s different from a traditional romance hero, fiercely intelligent but emotionally “difficult”. But his mum’s also very funny and endearing!

3) Who is your least favourite character? Why?

I’m not a big fan of Lavinia’s parents. They don’t really know their daughter and, very sadly, are not interested in getting to know her.

4) Which is your favourite scene in the book? Why?

I love all the scenes where Sebastiano is communicating through the sentences printed on his t-shirts. I like the fact that he’s quiet but very strong willed. And maybe the scene where Lavinia just sort of pops up at Seb’s house, without being invited.

5) What do you most like to do when you are not writing?

Spending time with my family and baking!

6) What’s the story behind why and how you became an author?

I (still) work in finance. I began writing to relieve some stress after Lehman collapsed. It started as a hobby but became slowly something much bigger.

7) What is your favourite movie? Why?

I guess When Harry Met Sally. I usually consider myself rational and level-headed, but this movie always strikes a chord. I’m a big believer in love stories where friends fall in love. In real life, as in fiction. There is nothing more romantic than knowing someone really well, with their flaws and all, and losing your heart despite everything.

Thanks Anna!
