Title: 36 Questions That Changed My Mind About You by Vicki Grant
My Ratings: 3 Stars
Source: Pansing Malaysia
Publisher: Hot Key Books
Goodreads Synopsis:
Two random strangers. Thirty-six questions to make them fall in love.
Hildy and Paul each have their own reasons for taking part in the psychology study (in Paul’s case it is the $40, in Hildy’s the reasons are significantly more complex). The study poses the simple question: Can love be engineered between two random strangers?
Hildy and Paul must ask each other 36 questions, ranging from “What is your most terrible memory?” to “When did you last sing to yourself?” By the time Hildy and Paul have made it to the end of the questionnaire, they’ve laughed and cried and lied and thrown things and run away and come back again. They’ve also each discovered the painful secret the other was trying so hard to hide. But have they fallen in love?
To start with, this book is pretty interesting. I mean the whole premise promises an exciting adventure. Two strangers discovering each other through surveys? That is ridiculously awesome! To me it’s a fresh perspective, and for that I would like to compliment Vicki Grant for coming up with such an incredible premises.
Hildy is paranoid and Paul…is such a horrible person. I can’t see myself falling for someone like Paul, ever. First impression goes a long way and honey, Paul failed in my books. Sigh.
36 questions were asked back and forth, and I have to say while the questions were interesting, the people answering them, are not. We get to know these two a little more as the story progresses but over time you just can not believe how easily Hildy starting to like Paul within days.
I did tell you guys how much I disliked Paul right? Well, guess what? I have no love for Hildy too. She’s soooooo annoying. She can’t seem to make up her mind, and at times, I think this girl has no chill at all. She gets angry too easily, and it just frustrated me as a reader. I get it, we adore angst, but this level of angst is just plain annoying.
Okay, what I really liked about this book though- is the breezy pace, and the cute formats. It is also a fast paced page turner. You will not realize how fast you will get through the book! I also really liked the goldfish and the cute little drawings by Paul.
So, this book had the angst, had the cutes and the fantastic premise but were fueled with annoying MC who also encouraged you to flip the pages to find out what actually happened. There is also an amazing ending, the kind of ending gives the fluff queen- ME! major feels. I squealed and sighed and rolled on my bed reading the ending. HEH.
Have you guys read this book yet? If you are looking for something fast and cute, this book is simply perfect! Share with me if you have read it in the comment section! Thank you Pansing Malaysia for this copy in exchange of my honest review. Love you guys! Till the next post guys!
