review 1: I bought this for my boyfriend, who can actually benefit from the suggestions, but it seemed short and interesting so I thought I'd read it too. It was very sound advice and it made me look forward to reading her Eli series, especially now that I know how the first three were written very differently from the last two. The writing style was interesting and friendly (there were some typos though), like a very extended blog post, basically. If you're a professional writer hoping to live off your craft, this is a must read.
review 2: This is a quick, worthwhile read if you're interested in writing faster. The author said the idea for the book came from a popular blog post of hers. I think the tips might fit better in that format than in a full-length book. The ... morequality of the advice seemed to drift as the book proceeded. While the main insights are useful, I would recommend quite a few other books on writing before this one. 3.5 stars. less
