The book ‘No Excuses!: The Power of Self-Discipline for Success in your life’ by Brian Tracy is FANTASTIC! It is motivational, practical, and honest. I’ve found it to be a great guide as I buckle down and recommit to my life vision.
So, how do you get from where you are to where you want to be? Turns out it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. Make a decision that you’re going to get to your goal no matter what
2. Come up with a high level plan
3. Start working towards your goal everyday
Seem simplistic? It really is that easy, but it’s also the hardest thing you’ll ever do. You will have to keep yourself accountable and motivated from start to finish. The sweet part of the deal is that when you get to the finish line, you’ll be exactly where you want, and all because of your hard work and effort.
Practical items that I’ve put into place so far because of my reading of the above mentioned book, are:
– Write down your goals every day. Just do it! It’s obsessive, but it works. It keeps your goals at the center of your world, and somehow there’s this added energy and momentum that keep you moving forward.
– Set a timer for a minute or two and write down all the possible ideas you can come up with that will get you closer to your goal. Let yourself be all over the place. Afterwards, prioritize your list of actions, and start tackling it.
– Everyday do something that gets you closer to your goal; no matter how small. Daily action is key, and will be the difference that will actually get you to achieving your goal. Remember, forward is forward
