Dear Stranger
I saw you today
Like every other day.
I don’t know you
But sometimes I think I would like to;
To remove the ‘strange’
But then I’d be left with just an ‘r’.
You seem so interesting!
And I’d like to…
Turn the strange into the ‘familiar’
Sometimes I think…
It’d be a lot more perfect’er’
If I could just know you.
But I keep to myself
Just to stay away from the ‘strange’.
And so everyday
I see you walk by
Sometimes I glance quickly in your eyes
I meet you on the bus
Sometimes I sit next to you
Or run into you at lunch
Sometimes you swiftly cycle by
Sometimes all the randomness at once.
Maybe just a little hi and bye?
But no, you have your head buried
In that shiny screen or
Your ears are plugged into
That music that sucks you in.
You are totally oblivious
To the world around you;
You are totally oblivious to me
As our paths collide;
Day by day and in various ways.
Our souls almost touch
But as strangers we still go on!
