review 1: So I went into this not really knowing what to expect. My last voyage into YA with a fae related plot was a disaster so I was naturally a bit hesitant when picking this one up, but boy did it surprise me. The main dude, Galen, was actual a delight - he knits!!!! he gardens!!! he shoots evil fae in the face!!!! - and though not aLL of the princesses were as fleshed out as i would have liked, there were twelve of them, and that would have made the narrative unnecessarily long (plus i think there are sequels which deal with the others) the only thing that let it down a bit was the enDING where Galen's cousin who we were told was dead for the entire story turns up alive in the middle of the wedding and it was just tOO CONVENIENT REALLY but im guessing again this will be dealt ... morewith in the sequels. plus any book that has knitting instructions in the back so you too can wear the knitted items mentioned within the book is too cute for words. more books should have this.
review 2: I feel like this storyline was stolen from another book I read called Entwined by Heather Dixon. I mean the similarities were striking! Princesses forced to dance every night in a different land by an evil man that they accessed by a hidden passage from their rooms and everyone was baffled why their dancing slippers were worn out every night. And the kind hires men to come and find out where they go every night. I mean they could have been the same story! I did prefer this book over that one though, it had a better ending. less

MCL. A retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses. Good for light, recreational reading.
