New Year, same old me!
This is my sixth installment of Lost in a Story’s challenge “Down the TBR Hole” and it makes me feel good to see my TBR shelf whittle down to dust. (That’s a lie. It sits at 1,401 books. I add books faster than I can remove them.) The concept of the challenge is to go through your oldest books on your “Want To Read” shelf and toss out the books you’re no longer interested in reading.
Seeing the first page of my to-read shelf on Goodreads consist solely of books I already own is extremely invigorating. When I go to pick up a new book, I’m focused on reading the ones that I’ve had sitting around for a while. Not only does it give me a chance to clean out (one of my favorite activities), it gives me motivation to read the books I’m eager about keeping.

Apparently I spent my Christmas Eve adding books to my to-read shelf, which truly isn’t any different from how I spent this holiday season! I’m not entirely excited about reading this book; I think the only thing I’ve read by Hemingway have been a few short stories and they never caught my attention, but I also know my reading taste has matured since high school. Regardless, I’m sure I have more exciting books to read.

This book is actually one that I do look forward to reading and hope I get around to it one day. It’s pretty far up the list no that’s I’ve cleaned out a bunch so maybe it’s one I’ll get to this year.
conclusion: keep

I definitely added this before I read anything by Willa Cather. I read My Antonia in college and absolutely hated it. The prose itself was beautiful but the story and everything about it was so insanely dull, I would fall asleep reading it. This is just not an author I want to spend time reading at the moment.

I actually tried to borrow this from the library this past fall! I ended up on a long waitlist and chose another graphic novel instead. This is definitely a book I’m still interested in and if I borrow it from the library I can probably finish it in a weekend.
conclusion: keep

I can’t even tell you what this book is about. Next.

Well, apparently four years later I’m starting to read this book, sooner than some of the other books I listed! I’m reading this as part of one of my bookclubs and I just picked this up the other day. I’m hoping to finish it by the end of the month so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
conclusion: keep (physical TBR)

Coming across this book on my shelf brought back vague memories of great reviews, but honestly I haven’t seen/heard/thought of this book since I added it years ago. Realistically, I’m just never going to get to it.

UGH!! I’ve heard GREAT things about this!! I always forgot about it though because it’s never talked about. I’m honestly having a crisis over whether I should keep it or not. I feel like I’ve gotten rid of a lot of books this round and may as well keep one “maybe” on, right????
conclusion: keep (for now)

I’ve read two Mitch Albom books and have another one unread sitting on my physical shelf, but unfortunately it’s not this one. My other Mitch Albom book is my priority.

Idk why but I have no interest or motivation to read anything by David Sedaris. I’m not entirely sure why I added this in the first place, but none of his books seem like I would enjoy them.
conclusion: remove
I’m not sure how honest it is of me to keep “for now” books around. Isn’t the point of this to clear it out in one brutally honestly sweep so I don’t have to go back?
Whatever!! It’s my list!! I’ll do what I want!!!
Ruling: 6/10 removedI’m okay with that, it’s more than half. Until next time!
