review 1: The author is no doubt an excellent writer, but I found that the reflections upon being an admissions officer became tedious after awhile. I also found both of the "twists" in the book highly implausible, but still interesting. One thing that ultimately turned me off from this book in the end is its negative portrayal of adoption on the birth mother. While I'd imagine it is certainly an emotionally wrenching experience for any woman to go through, the book makes it seem like it is always the wrong decision and will leave one with an empty, guilt-ridden existence.
review 2: One narrative thread here was worth three or four stars, but the other brings it down to a ** book. I quite enjoyed the epigraphs that head up each chapter, fictional excerpts from students'
... more application essays. I also enjoyed the description of what the life of a recruiter/admissions officer at Princeton is like. Where the author lost me was in the plot about the protagonist's personal life. There is just too much going on there, and none of it is all that interesting in the end. Still, I am glad I read this. (Though it could have been 100 pages shorter!) less

I think I liked this main character more because I was imagining Tina Fey.

Good book. For once I think I enjoyed the movie more than the book.

not a great read. It took along time to hook me.
