Death masks have always fascinated me. I am not a morbid person by any means; but death masks allow you to look at an individual, as they were hundreds of years ago. To me that is crazy; seeing what these people actually looked like and how different some of them are from their paintings.
Below are 5 of my favorites. Four out of the five are gentlemen that I have always idolized. I think it will be obvious which one I don’t idolize.
1) Isaac NewtonHere he is; the father of modern physics. An idol to many, and unquestionably one of the most respected scientists/physicists in the history of man-kind.
2) Abraham LincolnThe 16th President of the United States. Lincoln’s mask was made during his autopsy after he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.
3) Benjamin FranklinThe man responsible for eye glasses (kind of), and a key figure in the forming of the United States.
4) Nikola TeslaThis guy was a GENIUS! He brought us AC theory and radar; there is little question that he was (and is) the greatest electrical engineer to ever live.
5) John DillingerJust for fun, I wanted to throw a bad guy in the mix. Dillinger was an infamous bank robber in the 1930’s.
