What a crazy month it has been. From the debacle at the Oscars to fears of “fake news” and Trump to realising that it’s already been two whole months since New Year’s Eve or to the fact that I started my final year of university; I barely feel like I can catch my breath. Never the less, I still had time to read 1 book and watch 7 movies, which in all honesty is a little less than what I would have liked. However, I’ll let it slide because, as I have already mentioned, February was crazy.
Here is what I watched in the month of February:
For the most part, I really enjoyed each of these movies. My favourites of the month were by far Lion and Sing Street. Two very different movies that I loved for very different reasons. Lion was an emotional awakening that made me really think about life. Sing Street, on the other hand, was funny and endearing. It reminded me of what I love so much about John Hughes films and how important that genre is. Safe to say I will definitely be watching those ones again.
And here is the one and only book I read:
This book was a lovely read. It tells the story of two Australian teenagers named Michael and Mina. Michael is a 16-year old boy whose father is the president of Aussie Values, an organisation that opposes Asylum Seekers. In contrast, Mina is a grade 11 Student who also happens to be an Asylum Seeker that sought refuge in Australia with her Mother when she was 5 years old. The story really is about how they both overcome their prejudices and learn to be friends. It was a super easy to read but also incredibly thought provoking. I would highly recommend it for high school readers.
What did you read/watch this month? Anything I should check out? Let me know in the comments below!
Jackie.
