Happy New Year!

Hello all!

Can you believe it is already 2018? Even a week into 2018! Maybe it is because my 2017 was so eventful, but the whole year just seemed to absolutely fly by. My husband and I spend the last weekend of 2017 outside getting a jump on our 2018 goals. We have pretty generic goals for 2018, but the most specific one is to go hiking more. Specifically to go hiking on the AT (Appalachian Trail). Last last weekend we started out by hiking up to Preacher’s Rock!

Notice how bundled up we are? It was a cool 20-ish degrees when we got out there. This is something that our Florida blood wasn’t quite ready for. Luckily I had just bought this handy-dandy little puffer jacket! We had hoped to go further than we did, but we still need to get the hubby some cold weather gear. Part of the goal of the hike was to assess what we needed for hiking in Winter, because I don’t want to wait until Spring to get outside. Even with the short hike, the view was well worth it!

I can never get enough of mountains! In the summer I want to hike up to a view like this with a hammock and a book and camp out for the day. From the part we started the hike to Blood Mountain and back is an 11.6 mile trek. By the end of the summer I am hoping to do all of that in one go. It’s been a while since I have taken that long of a hike, but I’m so excited! So that was a pretty good kick off to the new year and a good start to our commitment to spend more time active and outdoors. What are some of your 2018 goals?
