The Colour:
This shower gel is a gorgeous colour.
Unlike any other, it is a bright forest green and completely opaque. It is on the thin side but it isn’t too runny.
It does not have glitter in it but considering how wonderfully mysterious the product is, it doesn’t need any. Lord of Misrule is one of a kind.
How it works:
I tried this in the Lush Kitchen just before it came out for the Halloween range like it 
does every year. I knew it had a super popular reputation and I did not want to miss out. Had I been scared away by patchouli being a main ingredient, I do feel I would have missed out on it.
The foam is visibly green but it does not stain my skin – not even a little and no matter how much I use.
Likely due to the glycerine as the first ingredient, it is very moisturising and I would highly recommend it to people who suffer from dry skin.
It cleans well – just like any other shower gel. I’d say I enjoy it as a hand-wash marginally more than as a body wash but not for any major reason.
The only imperfect thing about the way it works is similar to all shower creams I have tried.
It feels so moisturising and I am a person who enjoys the ‘squeaky’ feeling instead. It makes me wonder if my skin is actually as clean as it could possibly be, but this is just a tiny complaint and I can’t say that my skin has ever been left feeling dirty because of this shower cream.
The Scent:
Along with the colour and mysterious name, the scent is the star of this product.
It is peculiar and mystical and on first impression, I hated it.
The scent is a perfect marriage of three ingredients: earthy patchouli, spicy black peppercorns and sweet vanilla. All are clearly detectable and exist in layers within the shower cream.
Upon taking my first whiff of the bottle, I was horrified. When reading descriptions of the musky, earthy scent, I very simply and instantly assumed I would like it. I like the smell of forests, damp air and the petrichor on wet grass but this hit me with an old, musky scent that I couldn’t agree with.
I was reluctant to use it for about a week and then plucked up the courage to use my purchase…and I still hated it. I couldn’t get over my first sour impression and as a result, I was barely able to focus on the scent the first two times I used it.
But by my third use, I fell in love with it. Now every time I smell this product I think of autumn, winter and Halloween immediately.
While I am still not a fan of patchouli, beside Milky Bar, this is the only patchouli-heavy scent from Lush that I like. The scent is very warm and comforting. I’ve smelt nothing else like it and it is devilishly pungent but the lasting fragrance on my skin is an earthy vanilla sweetness.
That’s very impressive.

Would I repurchase this product?
Yes.
And probably in a bigger bottle before it disappears from shelves again.
