LOVE-Wilderness Cry-Hilary L Hunt MD

LOVE-This word has been a long time in coming for my commentary; it may be the most misused and misunderstood word in the English language. We hear it used in so many different considerations. Some examples: ‘I just love her hair’, ‘don’t you just love that dress?’, we love to shoot firecrackers on July fourth’, ‘I met my first love at a high school dance’, ‘I just love chocolate pie’. The list goes on ad infinitum. All of those uses imply a sensual pleasure being derived from the ‘experience’, whatever that may be;auditory, visual, tactile, taste, olfactory, aesthetic, etc. My concept judges that those experiences should be categorized by the word LIKE. Granted, strict usage of LIKE imply something be likened to something else, such as, ‘she looks just like her mother’, etc. However, more common usage implies a sensual pleasure being derived from some experience of our senses. I believe the word LOVE should be reserved for the basic intellectual acceptance of someone. In other words, we don’t have to like someone nor what they do in order to love (accept) them. WE may, in fact, be obliged to hurt or even kill some unjust aggressor because we don’t like what they are doing to us. That does not mean we are allowed to not love them. Jesus, in His wisdom, saw the necessity of love of God and Neighbor if we are to have peace and happiness. He loved each of us and all creation in spite of our selfishness. He even died to pay the price for our iniquity.  Religion and Ideologies set us apart and instill an attitude of hate among us, thereby making any likelihood of peace impossible. For those who don’t know, I have written a philosophy book on this subject; Wilderness Cry- a Scientific and Philosophical Approach to Understanding God and the Universe; available Amazon, Kindle and other major on-line book retailers. Comments welcomed.
