Mountain Top Reset

Katja Wahl

It’s January which means, at least for us, it is the heart of winter. When this time of year comes around I remember how much I enjoy the snow. Ignoring the fact I start to shiver if the temperature drops below 60*F.

While the suburbs of Seattle do not get much snow, we are blessed to be in the heart of the PNW where nearly any outdoor adventure you want is possible. From trips up the mountains to days spent at the beach; we have it all.

Campbell and I set out on a mission to reset before we started back up in our secord quarter of our sophomore years at college. Our destination of choice: The nearby Stevens Pass Mountain Ski Resort and Lodge.

We packed up my Hyundai Santa Fe and headed on the 1.5 hour drive up the side of a mountain, stopping every so often for photos. By the time we got there it was starting to hit sunset, making the snow glitter even more than in the daylight. It was Magical.

The ski hills were lined with lights and lifts, people scattered everyone with their boards. Everyone was happy.

For us the appeal was the various parking lots that spread across the resort and led to all sorts of odd places. A little cabin, a perfect back in parking spot and some seriously sharp cliff edges. We made our way around, exploring for an hour or so before heading home.

There is something so easy going about mountain resorts. Everyone is there for one thing and one thing only, to unwind. Resetting yourself doesn’t always mean cutting things out or making drastic changes. Traveling, even if nearby, is the perfect way to reset, restart and destress.

If you want to see more of the adventure Campbell and I go on comment below!

Cheers,

Kat
