Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

Today my review is this book Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles.

I picked up this book when I was at school. I read the blur and it intrigued by it. I had never heard of Simone Elkeles so I was very open-minded about the book.

This story is about a young man called Alex and a young lady called Brittany. This book is written in the point of views of both Alex and Brittany. It is their last year of high school and they have been put together in none other than chemistry class. From there a connection grows but coming from different backgrounds can they look past their differences.

Alex lives on the south side of town with his mum, and two younger brothers. He works part time at a garage to help his mum. But he is caught up in the gang life but trying to break free. When he gets paired with Brittney, he starts to see there is more to her than the stuck up rich girl that she shows everyone.

Brittany is from a wealthy family form the rich part of town. She is the popular girl with lots of friends. She puts I front on to everyone with the exception of her sister, but breaking down  her walls will take a very special guy, enter Alex. Having never spoken to Alex, unless it was a jab at his ‘gangster’ attitude, she recoils at the idea that she has to partner with him for chemistry class.

I enjoyed reading this book and the different points of view between Alex and Brittany. This story isn’t the typical story of boy meets girl and they lived happily ever after, you get to find out that there is more to meet the eye with both characters and you get drawn into their lives and rooting for both of them. I loved this book for the gritty details and how real the places and the people are. I couldn’t put the book down and still can’t, it’s my go to book that I just love reading.

If you are looking for a good love and suspense book, then this is the one for you. It is a young adult book but everyone likes a guilty pleasure every once in a while. There are sequels and other books by Simone Elkeles that have read and reread that I will review in future posts but please check out her stuff.
